Summer Camp 2

22 to 27 July, 2007

We had such a good time when we all went to summer camp, that we had to go again!

Jarrod really wanted to go again, and found out how.

He talked Jonathon and Adrian into going, despite the Sysco food.

Nick H. was persuaded to go as well, if only for the spoon safety training.

Mrs. Mackay went along as well.

Mr. Hazelton took the chance to find out what happened to Harry Potter in the 7th book!
(And wouldn't tell anyone!)

He must have learned something from the book, because he transfigured me into a newt ....... I got better ......

We were at the Miami campsite, which we shared with Troop 68. Here is our end of the site.
Miami campsite is across the road from Erie, which is our usual site.

The scouts worked hard on merit badges. Jonathon and Adrian did the mile swim again, faster than last time.
Everyone had completed pipestone on the first summer camp, so we didn't have to do that again. The four scouts
came home with 12 merit badges between them, from just this one camp.
Nick's Astronomy merit badge work influenced the others to do some star gazing.

Jonathon made a knife pouch in his spare time.

Around the campsite, we helped Troop 68 keep the site neat, clean and tidy.

We helped clean the latrines, and also cleaned the Handicrafts lodge on two occasions.

We always scored well on campsite assessment, and helped Troop 68 to a perfect score one day!

We joined Troop 68 for a campfire, and celebrated Christmas in July with them. We also

shared meals, helped each other, and played football and frisbee together.

Every evening, there was a flag ceremony in front of the dining hall, with some time to socialize.

After another great week at camp, we headed home, with a stop for ice cream along the way with a big friend.

We must have been influenced by cowbell at the Monday night campfire (y'all)!

Will we all go a second time next year? Check us out in 2008!
