General Packing List
The following is a list of items to bring camping. Think about what the particular camp-out involves, and how many days and nights you will be away, to decide exactly what you need to pack. Also consider the weather, and how warmly you need to dress. We will travel to a camp-out in Class A uniform, so have it ready to wear, rather than at the bottom of the backpack.


General Stuff

  • Medical Form (or current one on file with Scoutmaster)
  • Medicine, as required, in original containers with current dosage information
  • Permission slips
  • Merit Badge prerequisites, book, paperwork, blue cards, etc.
  • Scout Handbook
  • Paper, pen, pencil, etc.


Clothing

  • Uniform, Class A, Class B
  • Hiking Boots
  • Tennis Shoes or runners (not your best pair!)
  • Socks, including scout socks
  • Scouting-related or blank T-Shirts
  • Other shirts for activities and working
  • Jeans or Long Pants
  • Shorts
  • Scout belt
  • Long-sleeved Shirt
  • Sweatshirt
  • Jacket
  • Underpants
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Swim suit
  • Pajamas
  • Hat


Other Gear

  • Poncho or other rain gear
  • Personal hygiene items, i.e., toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, brush, shampoo, soap, etc.
  • Towel
  • Flashlight and spare batteries
  • Pocket knife
  • Watch
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad or similar, e.g., inflatable mattress
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Personal mess gear, e.g., cup, plate, bowl, knife, fork, spoon
  • Swimming goggles
  • Day sack
  • Canteen or water bottle
  • Tent, with groundsheet, fly, poles, stakes, etc.
  • Religious text of choice
  • Books, cards, etc.
  • Bags for dirty or wet clothing
  • Alarm clock


Summer Camp Only

  • Pipestone Wood
  • Three-foot rope (for tying knots)


Please note that scouts should not wear clothing that advertises or promotes things that are not approved by BSA.
