Bugle Presentation
20th December, 2007.
Troop 268 has had a bugle (and bugler) for many years, but the bugle was showing its age in many ways.
In the middle of 2007, Mr. J.J. Brands, our Outdoor Co-ordinator, became Sergeant-at-Arms at American Legion Post 239, located in Worthington. He talked to the leadership of the Post, who were keen to help the troop. After some discussion, the Post decided that a good way to help the troop would be to purchase a new bugle for the troop. The Post raised the funds and found a suitable BSA-approved bugle, which was duly purchased.

By the Post's meeting on the evening of Thursday, 20th December, 2007, the bugle had arrived and was ready for presentation to the troop. The troop's bugler, Jonathon, visited the Post, representing the troop, and was presented with the bugle by Post 239's Commander Thomas M. Eshelman.

Commander Eshelman spoke kindly of the Scouting movement in general, and invited Jonathon to speak.

On behalf of the troop, Jonathon thanked the Post and its members for their kindness and generosity towards the troop, and for their gift of the bugle.

One of the Post members jokingly suggested that now Jonathon had to learn to play it, unaware that Jonathon already has the Bugling merit badge. Fortunately for the ears of all present, the bugle being primarily an outdoor instrument, Jonathon refrained from demonstrating his skill!

Thanks to the generosity of Post 239 and its members, Troop 268 now has a brand-new bugle.
Troop 268 thanks the members of Post 239 for their support and kindness.
