 100th Anniversary of Scouting, August 1, 2007.

All over the world, scout groups came together at 8 a.m. on August 1, 2007, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting.

On the morning of August 1, 1907, Robert Baden-Powell blew a Kudu horn to wake up a group of 21 boys that he had brought to Brownsea Island, on the English coast, to test out his ideas of scouting for boys. In the week that followed, those boys learned first aid, swimming, tracking, cooking, camping and, most importantly, how to live and work together. They also played games, told stories around the campfire at night, and had a great time. Baden-Powell's experiment was a success, and led to the establishment of the Boy Scouts.

At 8:00 a.m. on the morning of August 1, 2007, Jonathon H. blew a Kudu horn to begin a short ceremony on the Worthington Village Green, to celebrate exactly 100 years of Scouting around the world. Many Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews based around Worthington attended the ceremony.

Mr Chris Morris, who co-ordinates Scouting in the Worthington area, welcomed everyone to the ceremony.
After Mr. Morris's welcome, the ceremony was managed completely by scouts from Troops 243, 268, 332 and 365, and
supported by scouts from those and other packs, troops and crews around Worthington.
